Influence of single-ionized oxygen vacancies on the generation of ferromagnetism in SnO2 and SnO2:Cr nanowires

Abstract In this work, we report the influence of single-ionized oxygen vacancies ( $$V^{\prime}_{{\text{O}}}$$ V O ′ ) as a spin ½ system in ferromagnetic response undoped and Cr-doped SnO 2 nanowires. For study, nanowires were synthesized by thermal evaporation method. Raman, Auger, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopies confirmed incorporation Cr 3+ ions lattice. Electron paramagnetic resonance measurements demonstrated presence Complementarily, cathodoluminescence V O defects samples. Magnetic revealed FM behavior from nanowires, showing magnetization saturation values M S ± 1 × 10 –3 1.6 emu/g, respectively, magnetic coercivity H C 180 200 Oe. We assign to single ionized acting alignment moments ions, finding that dominate generation.
